WRITING for the VOID

MUSINGS

"Who the fuck... has a Wii in Guatemala?"

As if my digital footprint couldn't be more embarrassing, I am now a gaming YouTuber.

This is that other writing project I mentioned on a blog from way back. It is vulgar, it is messy, it is exactly to my personal tastes.

If you were at all invested in this website, this probably seems like it came out of nowhere. This place was always suppose to be an archive of all my creative works, still under the "writing" umbrella, but occasionally there'll be stuff like this, or things more experimental in nature. It is kind of funny that my first project posted to my writing website is a YouTube review of a video game, but I like to think it'll reset any expectations I've built up. We are writing for the Void, after all.

This video was a product of pure passion. It's essentially a love letter to a particular type of internet review you don't see all that often anymore. Where the object in review is treated more like a vehicle for comedy rather than serious analysis. Think AVGN or The Nostalgia Critic, though I didn't grow up with those guys. Instead I watched the dudes inspired by them, mainly Running Shine and Quinton Reviews. Unfortunately, Running Shine hasn't made a video in three years, and Quinton Reviews forgot how to tell jokes after his co-producer left to join the Navy. That, and the stupid-long-videos gimmick is incredibly grating to me. So, I decided to make my own. I had a lot of fun putting it together, and I hope it shows!

Also, I'm still absolutely working on regular fiction projects. That remains my main passion, and hopefully I will have something to show soon. In the meantime, I hope someone gets something out of my crude sense of humor.
